Weigh-in: -0.8

At the WW meeting today we discussed “commonsense” and “non-sense” when it comes to metabolism.  Some of the myths we discussed were “starvation mode,” “weight gain due to increased muscle after 1 week of exercise,” “age related reasons.”  The age related one was particularly timely with the winners of TBL this past week.  We then discussed things we could do while watching TV to increase our metabolisms.  Ideas were planks, push-ups, work with dumbells, sit-ups, squats, etc. There were only a few 5 pound celebrations today. What do you do to try to increase your metabolism, or do you?

Breakfast (271 cal): I whipped out my “banana dog” at the meeting and my leader was just amazed and actually lost her train of thought then asked, “Is that a banana in a hot-dog bun?” – yep, with peanut butter too!  She thought this was the best thing ever.

Mid-Morning Snack (360 cal): We kept our new tradition up and stopped by the Great Harvest Bread Company and picked up a spice muffin.  I paired mine with a bowl of Chobani + cinnamon and blackberries. This was so filling and kept me full for about 3.5 hours.

Lunch (406 cal): For lunch I made a “philly cheese steak” with some Tofurkey Philly Style that I picked up last week.  I was not impressed with this flavor, I’ll eat the rest, but I wouldn’t buy it again.  My cheese steak had grilled onions/peppers, provolone cheese and my bun was schmeared with 1/2 of a Laughing Cow wedge. On the side I had carrots and an orange.

Dinner (556 cal): The boy and I made our first attempt at making our own pizza dough this afternoon.  Our dough was 1 pkg rapid rise yeast, 1 T honey, 1 C water added to   2.25 C WW flour, 1/2 t salt, 4 t vital wheat gluten. It was good, but we will try a few different things next time – like more honey.  I topped my pie with Whole Foods Sun-dried Tomato and Basil sauce, sauteed tricolor peppers, mushrooms, onions, FF mozzarella, and a four cheese blend. The pizza was v. good.  I also had a salad with greens, carrots, strawberries, walnuts and a FF lemon poppy dressing.

Dessert (187 cal):  I was in a dessert mood tonight and what better to curb that then Ice Berry.  So the boy and I walked the 5 mile round trip for yummy yogurt goodness.  I got a small chocolate with oreo. So worth it.
